Serbian Association of Conservators with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Information prepared educative workshop "Preventive Conservation of the Archival Documentation and Registry Material" for archival employees dealing with preservation of archival material in storage rooms and outside the archives.
Archives from Čačak, Užice, Novi Pazar, Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Vranje, Pirot, Pančevo, Kikinda, Novi Sad and Belgrade participated in the workshop that had its practical and lecturing part. Workshop was held in the Historical Archives of Čačak on November 23, 2018 and in the Archives of Serbia on November 30, 2018. Vladimir Jekić, senior archivist and Jelena Kovačević, archivist from the Archives of Yugoslavia took part in this event.
Following topics were discussed: "The Importance of Preventive conservation in the Archives in the Republic of Serbia"- Vera Filipović, archival advisor (The Archives of Serbia); "Preventive Conservation and General Principles"- Snežana Petrov, senior conservator ( The Archives of Serbia); "Characteristics of Storage Rooms and Storage of the Archival Material"- Ana Mitić , conservator (The Archives of Serbia); "Protection of Archival Material During Exploitation and Exhibition"- Svetlana Perović-Ivović, conservator adviser (The Archives of Yugoslavia); "Damages, Conservation and Restauration of Archival Material – Consequences of Dropping out Preventive Conservation Measures"- Višnja Nikolić, conservator ( The Archives of Vojvodina); "Plan of Protection and Safeguard of Cultural Heritage at Risk"- Desimir Tanović, conservator-restaurateur, senior collaborator ( Republic Institute for the Protection of Monuments of Cultural Heritage).
All participants received one copy of the book "Preventive conservation of the Archival and Library Material" written by Radmila Petrović and a copy of UNESCO’s publication "Managing Disaster Risks for World Heritage".
